heroes: why are we looking to the athletes?

Do you know whose your sons heroes? Do you know that probably it is a sports player because 60% or more of the kids in a recent survey think that sports players are better people than their own parents. They like them more then there own parents because people on TV act as if they were superheros. They think that they can do any thing that they want because they have more money and they think that they can buy someone because they are rich. As a result, kids buy into the lies and look to the fake role models instead of their own parents.

Why is a sports player a hero to a little kid in stead of a teacher or there mom or dad? How come people like a sports player more then their family? Maybe it's because more fathers watch sports then their own kids. Why would a kid love a sports player more than his own dad? Maybe it's because the sports players seem more reliable and dependable. They might be far in the distance, but at least we know they'll be there when we get home.

Do you spend more time watching sports then with you family? Many people only watch sports and don't play one or do stuff that dosen't involve watching T.V. What if we could get all the out of shape people to play a sport instead of watching one? And what if that sport they played was with their own kids? We can probably get them in to a sport or something that they might lose some weight, feel better and become the role model a child needs.

So, before we blame athletes for being bad role models, maybe society needs to look inward. Maybe the problem isn't one of bad athletes, but one of bad fathers.

Roger Clemens: An Embaressment to Baseball

If you where once a fan of Roger Clemens then you are probably 55 and still living in your mom's basement. The once great pitcher is going up against congress for his steroid use.You think this would be the time for him to step up and say he did take them and that it was his will,but instead he goes on making all these excuses and lies.He needs to grow up and face the music don't believe me I'll show you how he has failed himself with the juice.

Roger Clemens has lied several times during his hearing.He said that he didn't attend the infamous party of Jose Canseco.Yet a man who at the time was 11 took photos of Roger at the party.He has been accused of lying in hearing about taking steroids abuse.He continues to lie about it.His former strength trainer said that he had provided Roger Clemens and former teammate and current friend Andy Pettitte with Steroids. He said that he is a nice man that he is a hero to many kids.If that's true then why did you take the Steroids? Why would you give kids the influence that taking steroids to be the best is right? Or better yet your telling them that doing anything just to be the best is right. That's rude.

To make him look even worse he has turned his attention away from his hearing. He has started to train with the Houston Astros. It seems that he thinks he's in the clear.That he was going to get away with with lying.Not only did he take steroids,but he lied like it was nothing.It seems that he doesn't care that he crushed the dreams of many young fans.He is more concerned to keep cheating then to rebuild his reputation.He needs someone or something to wake him up.Well he got that rude awakening.That's right the FBI is now on the job.They are launching an investigation to see if he lied to congress.His lawyers said that they aren't surprised.

I bet you anything you want that Roger Clemens crapped his pants cause of that.He could do time in jail. Can you imagine the great Roger Clemens doing time in jail for a crime he obviously committed? The government can do something right for once. Athletes wouldn't be getting away with crimes. I doubt that will happen! He should be scared for getting the FBI on his case.Know you would think that Roger Clemens would be really worried.It doesn't appear that he is.He is living his life normally. He is attending training camps and other sporting events.He was one of the greatest players ever. He should be inducted into the hall of fame.I mean they let Barry Bonds in their and he used steroids. Still, it disappoints me to see The cheaters to take it away from the true pros.Hank Arron and Babe Ruth (if he was alive) should be pretty pissed.I say not only should they be banned for life.They should be arrested.

The report that you are going to read today is about steroids in the history of baseball. This drug does help the athletes but it can also injure them in their life. This situation has been around for years,and for years to come. Many athletes ruin their sports career trying to get all strong and muscular for all the ladies to want them I'm guessing. This situation has been trying to be stopped for generations, and people will try and stop it for generations to come. It's unbelievable how many athletes are willing to risk their career and their life just to improve their game in sports.

The first athlete that I am going to make an example of is the home run king Barry Bonds. He has been around the the game of baseball for many years now. He is a baseball player right now and his father was a baseball player back in his time. He just recently broke the all time home run record that was held for so long by Hank Aaron one of the first black baseball players to break a record in his career! After he had broken the record he was accused of using enhancing steroids. This was not the first time he was accused of enhancing steroids he was accused a while back in his career but no one really paid attention to that after a while because he was never proven innocent or guilty. Until this day Barry Bonds' ticket to the Hall of Fame is in danger!

The second player that I will use as an example is Mark McGuire. In case you don't know who that is he was a player for St.Louis Cardinals, as a matter of fact he was their leading home run hitter! He is in the top ten when it comes to home runs. He was also accused of using enhancing pills for improvement in his baseball game! People say that he should be stripped from all of his career titles. He does have a lot of accomplishments in his career but thanks to him using the enhancing pills all those are at risk of being taken away.

Barry Bonds and Mark McGuire are not the only baseball players to take these pills. Sammy Sosa was also accused of being a steroid abuser. He also is in the top ten of the all time home run hitters in the M.L.B. (Major League Baseball). Sammy Sosa is the all-time home run hitter for the Chicago Cubs,but now plays for the Baltimore Orioles. He did retire for a season because he was accused of steroids enhancing. People also say that he should be stripped of all his home run that he has hit through out his career.

Baseball is not the only sport that has players enhancing steroids into themselves, but so far it is the sport that has had the most in their league. So many players have been kicked out of their career because of this situation. Some people have no clue why people bother to use these dangerous drugs. But they do it anyway no matter what they are told for some reason they just won't listen!

Making NFL History

One of greatest teams in football history made history. Yes I am talking about the New England Patriots. With their new edition to the team they had the best season in football history. They a 16-0 season. No other team in NFL history has had one. Also the quarter back "Tom Brady" has a record setting 50 touchdowns in a single season. Then their wide receiver "Randy Moss" has record setting 23 touchdowns in a single season. See all of what they did. There is no way that all of what they did is not history.

It all started by signing Randy Moss. Everyone said that the pats made a bad decision. It turned out that it was one of the best. He helped them win against the Eagles. Also a lot of other games. At the end he averaged 15.2 yards per catch, 98 catches this season and, 23 touchdowns in the season.

Next Tom Brady. He maybe the best quarterback that has ever started off as a reserve. Now he is a three time Superbowl winner. This season he achieved a record and set it too. He has 53 touchdown passes in one season. Now he is trying to become the first quarterback to go 19-0. Also he is trying to win his fourth championship.

Last but not least is the coach. He has had to deal with name calling. He took the blame for the tapes they found that belonged to him. He still made the right decisions so the pats could be the best in the league. So far no one has had any problems with that. So he played a great part in all of this.

That is why the pats are part of history. They are because history is anything that has ever happened. Maybe they might be part about social studies history but they are a part of NFL history. Also if they win the Superbowl they will make more history. They are one of the greatest teams in NFL history and that is why they are making history every time they play. From 50 TD to 23 TD catches to a 16-0 season. They will make more history to come.

will king james be the best ever?

He is one of the N.B.A's best player active today. He has been called a variety of names like ''The chosen one'', ''King James'', and they even say he might be the next Michael Jordan. He over came obstacles to get to were he is here today. Many basketball players like him, yet many fear him. Many kids want to be like him yet some want to be even better. He has impressed the whole world with his magical skills of basketball. If you don't know who I'm talking about don't just keep reading. If you do know who I'm talking about still read because you might find out even more about this future hall of famer.

The great Lebron James was born on Dec.30 1984, in a small place called Akron,Ohio. He lived a pretty hard childhood because he was an only child and his parents had been divorced for quite some time. He knew that sports was the only thing he could have done to stay out of trouble and it did. So his main sports were basketball and football. When he was in his little league teams everybody knew that he was going to be something great. And Lebron had very much confidence in himself and toke manners into his own hands.

When his high school years came Lebron was magical to all the people. In his sophmore year Lebron averaged 25.2 points,7.2 rebounds,5.8 assists,3.8 steals,and was named Ohio's ''Mr.basketball'',and was all so in the USA today all-star team. For his junior year Lebron improved his statistics to 29.0 points,8.3 rebounds,5.7 assists,,3.3 rebounds,and was named Ohio's ''Mr.Basketball'' for the 2nd straight year! In his senior year he averaged 31.6 points,9.6 rebounds,4.6 assists,3.4 steals,was named Ohio's ''Mr.Basketball'' for the third time in his high school career. At the end of his high school career Lebron James was selected to play in the McDonald's all American all-star game. In that game he lead in scoring with a high school career high of 33 points! It was in 2003 when Lebron James was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the 1st pick in the 1st round!

In his first basketball game Lebron was very excited because he was going to be a starter. For a rookie to be a starter in the N.B.A and in his first game is a big accomplishment. Lebron did make a name for himself in his first game, scoring 25 points, giving 9 assists, got 6 rebounds, got the team 4 steals,and was shooting 60% from the field! At the end of the season Lebron James averaged 20.9 points, 5.9 assists,and earned 5.5 rebounds per game! After scoring a season high of 41 points, Lebron James became the youngest player ever in league history to score 41 points and was named rookie of the year! Thanks to Lebron James the Cleveland Cavaliers improved by 18 games but unfortunately failed to make the playoffs with a regular season record of 35-47.

So far in the N.B.A Lebron James is one of the N.B.A's greatest player. He has been the N.B.A rookie of the year,was in the N.B.A all rookie first team,was voted M.V.P in his first all-star selection game, a three time all-N.B.A 1st team in 2006 and was in the 2005 and 2007 2nd team, won the bronze medal with team U.S.A in 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece and with team U.S.A in the 2006 FIBA world championships. In this 2007 season that just past they him and the Cavaliers were crowned the Eastern conference champions, and in that same year he won the gold medal with team U.S.A in the FIBA Americas. Lebron is proud of his accomplishments but still wants that M.V.P title,but most importantly he wants a championship ring in his hand.

Are the Patriots Cheaters?

Are the New England Patriots cheaters? We all want to know the answer to that question, and believe it or not they are. The Patriots are a very good team that deserve to be good but they wanted more so to get more they did something that made them regret what they did. They cheated in their fist game against the New York Jets by video taping their plays. That was disrespectful and they are okay with what they did. That's just wrong to do that to a team you are friends with.

The NFL commissioner took away a first round pick away from them and he fined the Patriots and Bill Belichic $500,000 dollars total. This fine did effect the way people think about them. People might think that they cheat in every game and that's why they are so good. The way they cheated was wrong they video taped them and than they thought they were going to get away with it. They did admit that they cheated and that they were sorry about what they did. This will effect the head coach job but they are doing so well that everyone has forgot about it.

This makes America look like cheaters and that we will do anything to win. People from different countries might look at America like we did a horrible thing and they did but they see us as cheaters. That will effect us in the global game or big global tournaments because they might say the Patriots did it maybe they did it to. With the War in Iraq, our image isn't exactly great around the world. People see the Patriots as the team that won three Super Bowls in six years but now they are doubted and it seems like they cheated their way to victory but no one knows excactly how they won.

To me they should be punished more because that is not acceptable to the other team and to America. I do think they are cheaters and they are not a great team but that is my opinion. To me they should have taken this to court and done some more harm to them. To me they should have been forced to forfit that game and suspend the coach for doing what he did. This is not loyal because they did cheat and did it a horrible way.

Is it fair that baseball players earn more than the measly 30,000 that teachers make? I say no. Why? Because there are just a bunch of people out there throwing a ball and swinging at it with a bat just for the sole purpose of entertaining thousands of people willingly paying their hard earned money to go to these places.

For me, it's quite common seeing a parent talking on and on about sports with their children, and yet after their kid's dismissal from school they simply say, "How was your day at school?" and when the child replies good, the kid simply goes off into doing something they like. Or ( which is worse ) the parent makes no movement to engage the child into a conversation about school. Whereas they engage in conversations daily about baseball and other sports.

However, baseball should hold no real value for kids in school age since the baseball players aren't teaching them and teachers are. Parents shouldn't waste a lot of money on baseball when learning is much more important than leisure currently. The ways that teachers can teach are few since they can't have enough books and such to use for learning in case of a money shortage. Which will reflect on society later on when those kids are adults.

The Story of a Super Bowl

Super Bowl 41 was one of the greatest Super Bowls ever played. This Super Bowl is the past but it was a nice game. This game had a lot of interesting facts like there was rain in the game and the game was in Miami, Florida. The teams that were playing were the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears.

The game started off with a kick off to the Chicago Bears. Devin Hester returned the kick off for a 96 yard touchdown. They made the extra point for a 7-0 lead chcago was up. At that point people thought the red hot Chicago Bears were going to take this game easily. they must of forgot that the Bears were playing the best team in the AFC. They are the team that scores the most points in their division and that offense got them to the Super Bowl for a reason.

The game was geting interesting. Peyton Manning (the Colts QB) was throwing passes to his favorite reciver Marrvion Harrison. Then a long touchdown pass to Reggie Wayne tied the score 7-7. It really was a great game which tested the teams because it was raining super hard and it is hard to keep the ball in their hands. The Bears had tooken the lead by taking the ball at the Colts 21 for a field goal. Now the score was 10-7 Bears.

The Colts were catching up with a terrific pass to Reggie Wayne and that got them at the 49 yard line. Than another pass to Marrvion Harrison got them the laed with the touchdown.. At that point the Colts were up 14-10 at halftime. the second half begins and after three quarters the score was now 29-17. It was the fourth quarter and it was coming to an end and the Chicago Bears had the ball in scoring possesion, but the Colts great defence had intercepted the ball. The player that had closed Super Bowl 41 was Bob Sanders That was the game the Colts had won the Super Bowl and had their fifth division title. The Colts are the defending champions coming into this season and they're off to a terrific start at 5-0.

Jordan Is the Best Ever

IN THE WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS THERE ARE A LOT OF NEW AND OLD LEGENDARY PLAYERS. LIKE THE GREAT MICHAEL JORDAN, I MEAN, IF YOU DON'T KNOW OF HIM I AGREE WITH ALL THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE CALLED YOU A LOSER. HE WAS AND IS STILL REGARDED AS ONE OF THE GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYERS ALIVE. SURE THERE ARE MANY MORE GREAT PLAYERS BESIDES HIM. HOWEVER, I REALLY DOUBT THEY ALL WON SIX CHAMPIONSHIPS LIKE MICHAEL.

WHEN MICHAEL JORDAN WAS IN THE NCAA (COLLEGE BASKETBALL) EVERYONE ALREADY KNEW THAT HE WAS GOING TO BE A GREAT PLAYER. ABOUT EVERY TEAM IN THE N.B.A (NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION) WANTED HIM. HE WAS SCORING POINTS LIKE CRAZY AND HE WAS ACTUALLY THE SCORING LEADER IN THE NCAA FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS! YET DESPITE THIS, HE HAD ACTUALLY FAILED TO MAKE THE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TEAM HIS FRESHMAN YEAR.

WHEN DRAFT DAY CAME EVERYBODY WAS EXCITED - ESPECIALLY MICHAEL HIMSELF. HE KNEW THAT AT THE END OF THAT DAY HE WAS GOING TO START HIS N.B.A CAREER. EVERYONE THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO BE THE #1 DRAFT PICK. BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE FIRST 2 TEAMS DIDN'T GET HIM. SO THE CHICAGO BULLS SAW THEIR OPPORTUNITY AND GOT HIM AS THE 3RD DRAFT PICK.

WHEN MICHAEL JORDAN'S FIRST SEASON CAME HE WAS EXCITED AND SO WERE ALL THE FANS OF THE BULLS. ON HIS FIRST GAME MICHAEL WAS UNBELIEVABLE. HE SCORED HIMSELF A TOTAL OF 22 POINTS AND EARNED NINE ASSISTS,AND THREE REBOUNDS. FROM THERE HE WAS A BIG THREAT FOR THE REST OF TE N.B.A TEAMS. EVEN THOUGH THE TEAMS WOULD TRY TO STOP HIM HE WOULD STILL BRING HIS ''A'' GAME TO THEM.

MICHAEL JORDAN WENT ON TO WIN SIX CHAMPIONSHIPS. RIGHT NOW HE HAS HIS OWN SHOE LINE AND REMAINS VERY SUCCESSFUL. EVEN THOUGH HE DOESN'T PLAY ANYMORE HE WOULD ALWAYS BE ONE OF THE N.B.A'S GREATEST PLAYERS.

Lessons from the Vick Story

This story is a big deal. It’s about one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, (National Football League) today. When this tragedy happened it shocked the NFL big time. Not only did it shock the NFL but it also hit the NFL fans and the world pretty hard too. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you obviously don’t watch the news (that‘s how big this is). Well the tragedy I’m talking about is the Michael Vick tragedy. If you want to know more about this tragedy I suggest you keep reading this essay.

Michael Vick is, or at least was truly a great quarterback (QB) in the NFL. The reason I said he was is because he isn’t playing anymore. He was caught torturing animals, not just any animals but dogs. The F.B.I agency’s said he was making them fight so that he could make bets on them and earn a little bit of extra money. If the dogs didn’t win, he would hang, drown, or shoot them.
When the NFL found out about this they immediately did some investigation of their own just to make sure it was true. The NFL soon found out that the investigation was true. They immediately put him to court to see if he was guilty or not. The court’s ruling took a couple of months. When they finally ruled him guilty he was suspended from the NFL indefinitely, and was sentenced to a year in prison.

After all of this hit the world, he had to pay big time. All of his products were taken out of the stores like his shoes, jerseys, etc. And if they were kept up for some reason not many people would buy any, because I don’t think anybody would want to have his stuff on after what happened. The biggest disappointment was to his fans, I mean what kind of example is he putting for his fans. He also let down his teammates because they were expecting a great season with him, but now they can’t do that without there star player playing. We expected more from this star player.

Therefore Michael Vick has ruined his life because of his stupid actions. Hopefully the NFL will let him comeback to play the game that he so much loves. With any luck he will learn from his mistakes and never do them again. Well thank you for taken some time off of your life to read my essay and I really hope you enjoyed it.
