Day Two: College Barriers and Solutions
1. Students drop out of high school
- If it's already happened, you can get a G.E.D
- If it's not working out, you can look for a school that will accept you
- Find out about your credits and how to earn them through summer school
2.College is too expensive
- Do community service and get a scholarship
- Get good grades to get a scholarship
- Apply for a student loan
3.Students earn bad grades
- Go to summer school
- Take extra classes
- Extra credit work
- Ask for tutoring help
- Start at a lower class and move into a better one
4.A lack of transportation
- Learn the light rail
- Get a room at school (dorms)
- Ask for a ride or carpool with someone else nearby
5.Don't want to go to college
- Go to a college that fits what you want to do
- Start with community college if a university seems to big
- Find a degree that seems fun
- Stick with it even if it's hard or if it's not as exciting as you hoped
